A bold use of line, colour and geometric patterns define the decoration of this Parisian apartment<\/a>. St\u00e9phanie R\u00e9hault, a former jewellery designer turned interior decorator, tells us about her original style.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why did you choose this particular apartment? What made you fall in love with it?<\/h4>\n

In the first place I chose the apartment because of its location. I\u2019ve lived in this neighbourhood for more than fifteen years and I really like it. As for the apartment itself, it\u2019s on an upper floor, it has a double aspect and is very bright, and it has a very beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower.
\nI was looking for a rental investment where I could also showcase my work as an interior designer and home-staging specialist.
\nSeveral times now I\u2019ve used my own apartments to try out decor and design schemes that end up as backdrops to my tenants\u2019 lives. What I most want to do right now is to decorate something very personal for clients\u2019 own apartments, not only rental properties.<\/p>\n

Are there particular rooms you prefer to decorate and why?<\/h4>\n

My favourite is to decorate a sitting room: it\u2019s the primary room that gives the unifying thread for my other design choices and the colour scheme.<\/p>\n

What are your sources of inspiration?<\/h4>\n

My background is having spent 10 years as a designer through my jewellery company STEFERE<\/strong>. My eye is always attracted by the aesthetic of objects, shapes and places. For this apartment, which I wanted very crisp and graphic, my inspiration came from an exhibition of an artist I adore, Victor Vasarely.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favourite colour?<\/h4>\n

I don\u2019t have one. I like to create an association of colours starting with a grey base and then bringing in really bright colours to go with it.<\/p>\n

Do you have favourite objects in your apartment?<\/h4>\n

Because this apartment was going to be rented out, I focussed more on materials than objects. For example, I love the grey leather and the duck-egg blue patent leather which was the inspiration for the colour scheme.<\/p>\n

What is it you like best about this neighbourhood?<\/h4>\n

The village feel of the rue de Passy: the shopping, wandering around the Franck et Fils department store, having lunch with my friends… This apartment opens onto to the neighbourhood\u2019s pedestrian street, and I just feel good and comfortable here.<\/p>\n

Please give us some local recommendations!<\/h4>\n

My favourite restaurant is definitely Settebello<\/strong> for its delicious Italian cuisine, the Japanese p\u00e2tisserie YAMASAKI<\/strong> and, of course, the “Marvellous brioches” Aux Merveilleux de Fred<\/strong> (just next door).<\/p>\n
